USYSNC State Cup update – May 14, 2009

To all teams eligible to participate in the June 6 &7, 2009 USYSNC State Cup.

Due to the impact rainouts due to weather and school closures due to cases of Swine Flu, the Western District has not been able to complete their original schedule.  As a result, we are unable to move the tournament up to the original schedule.  We are looking into possible schedule adjustments given the impact to school graduations.  Rest assured that we understand the impact of the new schedule for the younger aged teams who may have graduation conflicts, but the issues previously stated simply will not allow a reversal back to the original Memorial Weekend schedule.

We are currently assessing options on scheduling as best possible.  Part of this is contingent on other teams agreeing to the changed schedule deviation per the published STYSA schedule in the rules.

One option currently being reviewed for age groups where El Paso is not sending a team, is to see if we can get the district on district games (e.g. ED1 vs. ED2 or WD1 vs. WD2) played prior to the tournament and then schedule the Saturday p.m. and Sunday a.m. games.  Due to the fact that Western District doesn’t yet know who is advancing, we are in a wait mode until after this weekend, which weather may possibly impact their ability to complete.  We will provide updates following completion of the Western District finals.
